San José, November 12, 2024. The National Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation (Senacyt) was represented by Mr. Franklin Morales, head of International Technical Cooperation, at the First Business Forum within the framework of the Free Trade Agreement between Korea and Central America (K-CAFTA), held on November 11 and 12 in San José, Costa Rica.

Senacyt’s participation in this forum reflects Panama’s interest in strengthening relations with South Korea in the field of advanced technologies and promoting the exchange of knowledge and technological capabilities.

During the event, Mr. Morales held meetings with representatives of important South Korean technology entities, such as the Korea Internet Security Agency (KISA), the Research Institute in Electronics and Telecommunications (ETRI) and the Global Digital Innovation Network. These conversations explored avenues of collaboration and technology transfer, with a view to strengthening the innovation ecosystem in Panama and accelerating the country’s scientific and technological development.

“Senacyt seeks to be the engine that places Panama as an undisputed leader in science, technology and innovation in the region. Partnering with countries like South Korea is essential to integrate into advanced sectors, attracting capabilities that will boost Panama’s economic and social development,” said Morales, highlighting Senacyt’s mission in this space of international technical cooperation.

Likewise, Mr. Henry Faarup, Secretary General of the Panama Railway, participated in the forum, where he presented the railway project as a transformative and strategic initiative for the region. Faarup urged Central American countries to join this regional integration effort, led by Panama, through this ambitious infrastructure project.
